£1.25 ew , £0.75 ew & refused ..................

on the 100/1 ew shot with the firms offering 100/1 , so i saved myself £96 as the next price available was 33/1 , i wonder if the £300/pt bloke got on with no trouble today !!!!! so who got the 100/1 ew to the full stakes asked for ???
i dont have all the answers but at least give us bets where we have a chance of getting on , it made matters worse that we had to get a main account on at the same time , kb gets a lot of uneccessary flak and rubbish spoken about him and his service and i will always try to offer a impartial view on the service and feel i do a pretty good job in that respect but todays bet leaves a sour taste behind with me .

Hi DD,

I may be speaking out of turn (wouldn't be the first time I hear people say) but I was told many years ago that one particular "advisory service" does not give selections for the benefit of its members. The "theory" was that selections were (and are) picked with an advertising campaign in mind. Sound unrealistic? Think about it. I'm also told that some years ago a string of successful bets were achieved and as the run continued the prices on each subsequent selection was shorter and shorter (looking for "certainties" and not value form selections against poor favs) until one eventually got beat. The owner then allegedly exclaimed that he was relieved as he could now get back to running the service "properly", i.e. looking for those 3-1 shots against the odds on false jollies. In the meantime though a number of adverts had appeared proclaiming the wonderful run and odds of thousands to one against it happening (assuming you placed a bet before the first winner and before the last odds on loser).

Believe it or not (and I know some won't) I'm not here to slag anyone off (I'm told the above is a pretty accurate reflection of events) but you have to sometimes question people's motives don't you?

It's obvious that some (Mark Holder for instance, and no I'm not a subscriber) run their service for their current members, knowing that if they're successful then that will attract new members, whereas some appear to run their services purely with an advertising campaign in mind to attract new clients to replace those existing ones they know they're going to lose.

I'd be interested in your thoughts and those of any other members of various services. As you know I believe I can ultimately match their performance (and my blog will prove that one way or the other) although from what's being said here and elsewhere I'm beginning to think I should be able to perform far better than some.

As always all the best
Happy profitable punting
Cheers

Eachway Thief.

Hi DD,
I managed to get £50 each-way on at £100 as I asked in a shop, though had to wait a few minutes, just checked it was stamped 16.02.54.

KB is correct in what he said as indeed the selection was 2-1 and under for a place on betfair.

david , the advantage of being in a shop ! going by the emails i received you by far got the most on , well done , i hope you availed yourself of the 2-1 in the place market ........ i didnt think my £2 warranted such action !! all the best DD.

DD,
Layed back the win part, and £150 @ 2-1 on the place, though always easy in hindsight that I should have layed more..

hello Thief
why havent you accepted the £100,000 challenge against isiris?
it is easy for everyone to criticise the top racing service but when you have taken the £100k off them then we will start to take your criticisms seriously!!

from Minipuro

I think the "shop" argument is a double edged sword

If we all (Isiris members) went & stood in the shops then with centralised computer systems in place then most / all would be knocked back.

Plenty of shops will have knocked back those bets yesterday for small stakes. (Hills in manchester were having none of it ... quite literally!)

If you are lucky enough to have a local shop that turns a blind eye & allows you to get on that also has the best (or near best) price then you are in a great position.

To suggest we could all do that is complete fallacy (which is what i think KB would have done if it had been successful)& therefore yesterdays bet was impossible for most punters to even £25 units

i totally agree mini but i have to be fair to all concerned , i illustrated the problems i experienced and i heard of similar stories , obviously david got £50 ew @ 100/1 and good luck to him but from what i can make out he was in the minority , im not going to chance my stance which is convenient and 9/10 works for me which is using my laptop cheers DD.

Dirk was there a Main Account review with that loser? Theres normally one on isnt there?

DIRKDIGGLER said...

hi there , i think i made the same mistake as you !!! i rang the back up line but as we only used up 2 lives i think the review was put on the 6pm message , which i didnt call yday as there was no evening racing regards DD.

dont really agree with you and minipuro, DD about betting in shops. I nearly always get the bets on in shops. Move around. And there are plenty of indies whre I live who will lay you. Thnakfully I didnt get involved with the "outrageous" insider as we'd already backed whodunit and martinet in that race. Thank goodness it wasn'tplaced. I can imagine the ad which would have followed! Btw, anyone hear last night's message??? Anything of interest?? All the best and gl for tonight's MH bets. Jeanius

jeanius , when im talking about shop versus the net , im talking in overall terms , yes for main account bets the shops are ideal , but if you do the insiders you would be stuffed if the shop you visited were bottom price or were not quoting that particular race but i do take the point that if you only back the main account the shop scenario is ideal , all the best DD.

Hi "anonymous",

I have not seen the terms of the so-called 100k challenge but in any case for me to take anyone up on it would mean risking some of my savings and I'm not prepared to do that. I have worked hard to get to where I am and I will decide what I bet on, how much I bet and when I bet, that's the beauty of being a punter. I was under the impression that my comments were a fairly accurate reflection of what went on. Is that not the case?

I have no axe to grind and I do not subscribe to any service. I think you'll find I've made positive comments about some services and the way they are run. Any "criticisms" are based upon my interpretation of comments or experiences as outlined by members of those services and I would have thought any service would be keen to know what its members thought, after all aren't they run for the benefit of the members?

I would question your comments about Isiris being "the top racing service", although of course it depends how you arrive at that conclusion. Number of members, number of happy members, winning selections, profitable selections, profits based on varied staking, level staking etc, etc. No doubt each service could put themselves at the top of the pile simply by changing the parameters to suit themselves, i.e highest strike rate (winners or placed each way), profits calculated to stakes and prices available to all or just a few?

From what I've read and been told by members of Isiris they've had a pretty tough time over the last eight or nine months and many seem to have questioned whether or not all the scrambling around trying to get prices and stakes on bets is worth the hassle. Do you think people that joined and parted with their hard earned during this period see Isiris as "the top racing service"? From what a number of members say it would appear that they're barely in profit once you take away the subscription fees and that's assuming you secure top prices to full stakes on their bets.

Anyway, I wish everyone all the best including Isiris, not least of all because people like Greg could do with a change in fortunes.

Cheers,

EWT.
