well done frankie !!!

what an excellent derby meeting for the headlines writers , it really could not have been scripted any better . the derby meeting brings back a lot of happy memories the first i went to was in 1983 as a chubby spotty 16 year old , the chubbiness remains but thankfully the spots have gone ! this was when the derby was on a wednesday and it was a 3 day meeting , its funny how certain things stick in your mind , but i remember i was with my dad working at walthamstow dogs on the tuesday evening returned home and there was a derby preview on the tele big mac was interviewing john power who at the time was a prominent fearless on course bookie , lester rode thewinner teenoso in soft ground i was clerking on tattenham corner and i worked with a couple of real characters ben a 78 year old jewish man was the front man pricing up then we had shorty a italian romany type who knew every trick and more in the book , if we £600 on the day with shorty in full flow on count back after the last race we would probably show a £800 profit on the day !!!! to say it was an eyeopener is something of an understatement ...............

a poor day to end a decent week , i have received a half dozen or so emails from isiris members unhappy with the ante post situation this year , well as instructed i traded mount nelson and lucarno although i didnt get any of the 100/1 but salford mill i was left with a £100 ew exposure i didnt hear the message to trade it back @ 8/1 and going by the sums traded on betfair £700 @ 9.0 thats £350 actually layed and £76 (£38 really) traded @ 8.6 other members either failed to take the advice or like me didnt hear the message , if i had heard the message i would have traded half back , so the isiris derby p/l was zero but from the emails received , many of you were not so fortunate .

a last point , EAGLE MOUNTAIN i hope none of you got your fingers burnt on this , just remember there is no such thing as "FREE MONEY" i learnt this in 2005 with the kicking king episode , at the timei wasworking at betdaq and with the irish connection of dermot desmond , jp mcmanus and chronicle bookmakers justin carty our office at times was awash with "live" priviliged info , i was in the ring of confidence and i got a tap on my shoulder "son , kicking king is out of the gold cup " he was on the drift but thankfully my balance with the fair was low i only layed for small , and quite soon the price had gone thru the roof and i greened up , others in the room were not so lucky for a week all was fine then "THE DEAD ONE CAME ALIVE" so to speak , and some of the positions i heard of would bring tears to your eyes , so these days i let such comments flow over me and treat them with a pinch of salt and i dont get involved but i did notice fancy prices hoovered up on the win mkt , place mkt and w/o authorised mkt thankfully the liquidity to my eyes was not too great .

PERSONAL TRADING

a loss of £125 on the day all from the derby , a loss of £200 on salford mill who in the circumstances ran a terrefic race from his early position to finish 6th , i realise this was a insider bet but as i traded back the other isiris bets then if the instruction was given to trade back salford mill its only fair i feel that i take the hit , i echo a lot of the ante post frustration and in future i will play things differently probably treat all ante post bets as 1/2 pt ew or 1pt win bets , i had backed aqaleem £50 ew @ 10/1 earlier in the week i had layed the win part @ 9.4 and i kept the place part a profit of £125 , after the dante i backed authorised £200 @ 2.80 i layed back £300 @ an avearage of 2.033 to give me a profit of £50 on this play so thats brings to a close the 2007 derby .
