the day started ...............

in the same vein as the previous four this week ............... costing me mone but not via gambling !! i went out of diggler towers just after the morning line to run some errands the car started and i started to drive but the car wanted to go violently to the left , on inspection i had a flat front tyre , hoping that a kid had played a prank and let it down i drove the 1/2 mile to the garage to put some air in , my worst fears were realised though as i took the cap off only to see a nail protruding out of the tyre . i got myself to my local tyresrus and 1 tyre quickly multiplied to a full set of 4 !!!! , the other front was ok just but not much life left in it but the rear two were cracked and needed replacing straight away , as im a regular customer they did me a deal and it was decided to replace the set ................ nearly £400 down on the day and not a bet had been struck in anger !!! thankfully by the end of the day this episode had long been forgotten .

i have always held a preference for the national hunt season , and in times gone by , i had always earmarked the october saturday "timeform" chepstow meeting shown on the beeb as the start proper of the winter season , but i shall bring my start forward in future by a couple of weeks to this weekends market rasen meeting , and i was especially looking forward to see the debut over hurdles of alan kings progressive flat horse franchoek , bred to stay forever this son of trempolino was expected to fare well over hurdles my only concern was that he may get tapped for toe over just short of 2m 2f , as i feel he may need further over hurdles , a creditable 3rd but i feel my concerns were justified congratulation to mark holder on this race !!!!
the second horse i was looking forward to was blu teen , i first noticed this massive scopey horse at chepstow last season when successful , this horse dwarfs his oppenents jumps for fun and travels well , his trainer pre race voiced concerns on the fitness front and he was spot on , all through the race he travelled like the winner although he never really managed to lose the attention of prestbury knight and although niggled to stay in touch superior fitness in my opinion eventually took its toll and prestbury knight won going away , congratulations to isiris on this race !!!!!!

saturday

ISIRIS

HORSE A £250 win @ 3.56 £250 place @ 1.52 2nd -£125.20

i was out friday night so i missed getting on in the qe ii , but with the non runners i decided to try and trade myself into a position where i could back the horse @ 5/2 on the exchanges each way and therefore obtaining ew on 3 places as it was now a 7 runner affair.
listening to comments by the beeb experts pre race they mentioned the selection and raised the possibility of trouble in running , i mocked this comment , ffs there are only 7 runners !!!!
i not for the first time this week was cursing the ineptitude of a "top class champion" jockey ........

MARK HOLDER

2.05 mr falcons fire £150 ew @ 10/1 £150 ew @ 8/1 WON +£3240

BINGO !!! back on board and back with a bang !!! mh suggested we wait for the shows but from past experience i always feel its best to bag some of the best price available to me at the time of the message , hence the £150 ew @ 10/1 , a couple of mins before the race the selection was on the drift via the exchanges but just as i placed my orders support came in and they were unmatched i ended up backing it with the bookies on line as i was at home , but just as i was awaiting confirmation on my £150 ew @ 9/1 it came back price change now 8/1 !!!
i cant complain though , a much welcome winner that turned a £1600 loss onto the week into a £1600 profit .

THE30KCHALLENGE ................................... +£17,704.14

Hi Dirk,

Not going to make a daily habit of this, but your post today was interesting!

When I bought my current wheels (318i)I bought a 3-year service deal from BMW for £395. Took me motor 20 months and 17k miles to indicate it wanted attention! What have I done, I thought.

Then, only 4 months and 4k miles later it wants another visit to it's makers. When I spoke to the local dealers I was told that the 'Condition Based Servicing' (CBS) means it goes in for attention to bits as they require, rather than waiting till a more comprehensive overhaul is required. Perhaps I got a good deal after all!

Anyway, I too thought Franchoek looked a very likely sort yesterday, especially given that Alan King introduced Katchit in the same race last year. PFN scored with Elusive Dream but suffered reverses with other well-fancied sorts.

I managed a profit at Ascot today, giving three days out of three in profit at this meeting. I'm therefore wondering if we are now getting to grips with the new track after two years of puzzling results at the Royal meeting.

Diappointing that Helvellyn was withdrawn because of the ground today - perhaps there will be a race at the Cambridgeshire meeting for it - or failing that, the Prix De L'Abbaye?

We'll see!

Regards,

Orsen
