totally amazed but what i witnessed today .............

in a hills shop , wood green to be precise not the the most inviting of areas but one with a plentiful supply of betting shops , some better than others (a hint there !) and with the staff in some if there were olympic games for attitude and agression would be 1.01 shoo ins for gold medals . went in this morning and was having a chat with one of the managers and spotted a couple of blokes getting a laptop out , i didnt say anything and was waiting for the manager to go over but ntg happened , it was close to the first at wetherby and i watched from behind them , they had betfair up n running with what looked like a bot interface plus oddschecker and a selection of bookies sites , i was in there for half an hour it was obvious they were arbing and playing the i/r off the sis feed , i left as the manager who i know was leaving to take a fag break so i had a chat and mentioned the lap top , he has no problems at all with laptops in shops ................ i was amazed , gobsmacked and to be honest i thought he must be taking a bung from the lads ! i returned home to log on , posted a thread on the betfair forum and aparrently this is not a uncommon sight ................. any internet bods please get in touch as im the mr bean of the it world , i have a lap top but how do i get a broadband connection in a betting shop ? any ideas on what i need ?
i really cant believe that this is in the shops interest i realise they will get the arbing money but it will be on horses shortening and they are providing a free sis link to play betfair i/r without the £34 daily charge .

wednesday

PERSONAL TRADING

a quiet day with nothing from my three services but mh was keen on the short fav lady pilot in the lingfield 1.00 , given a supremely confident and perfectly timed ride by robert lucey-butler to continue the superb current form of the jim best yard , i invested £80 @ 2.30 to produce a small profit of £99.52 on the day .

I am amazed too. In the long run the bookie is going to lose money so why would he accomodate this. Mobile broadband connectivity is getting much better. Vodafone has 3.5G which is pretty good but I know for one I would not rely on a mobile connection to lay off in running. It won't take many occasions of get burnt before they realise they will need a more reliable connection. Surely they be better off with one guy in the office with mutliple internet connections and another guy on a bluetooth mobile phone relaying the instructions at the track. I saw someboy doing that very successfully at Kempton last night.
He was very calm and focussed. Everynow and then you hear lay 5, lay 6. As soon as they looking out of contention or struggled round a bend or something like that. I noticed him also take advantage of some price differences between the rails and betfairs. They only lasted for a 2 minutes but will the fav's flip flopping in 4 out 7 races it was easy to scalp a reasonable amount of money.

hi brian , yes im still stunned , had a trawl thru some shops today and asked the managers whether they would have any objections only 1 did and then i said i would bung them a score aday and then he replied he will think about it !!! apparently you can get a vodafone module to attach to your laptop that will get you up n running as long as the area has vodafone coverage which the majority of places will do , certainly an idea to keep in mind for the future ....... i need to find a mate first though !!
